The 2023 Law and Technology Conference, organized by the Asian Law Schools Association (ALSA), is a collaborative effort between NYCU School of Law and ALSA. This international conference, themed “Emerging Technologies, Social Change, and Legal Innovation,” is scheduled for December 2-3, 2023, and will take place at the Guangfu Campus in Hsinchu, Taiwan. ALSA’s annual meeting is scheduled for December 1st, 2023.

This conference, led by ALSA’s Technology and Law Chapter and joined by the Private Law Chapter, seeks to delve into the intricate relationship between emerging technologies, societal transformations, and legal advancements. Over recent decades, we have witnessed the rapid development and implementation of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, fintech, blockchain, and regenerative medicine, all of which have profoundly impacted society. Consequently, legal frameworks and regulations have struggled to keep pace with these technological advancements. This conference’s primary goal is to examine the legal ramifications of these emerging technologies and explore strategies for adapting laws to meet the challenges posed by technological progress.

We cordially invite scholars from various disciplines, including law, technology, management, policy, and science, technology, and society (STS), including both seasoned academics and emerging scholars and doctoral candidates, to submit abstracts for papers that explore the influence of emerging technologies on law, society, and governance. The conference will serve as a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue and provide participants with an opportunity to exchange research findings, experiences, and ideas on this crucial subject.
